#ThursdayTunes My Rainy Day Playlist

I have this private playlist on my Youtube account wherein I add music from time to time if I encounter a good song along the way. Sometimes it’s a soundtrack from a movie I just watched or sometimes from the books I read or from random people online.

So, I decided to make a Rainy Day Playlist because most these songs are best played  on a rainy day and you have nothing to do but to feel sentimental. Below are my own stories on each song and yes, I made a public playlist on my Youtube channel so you can listen to them all you want. Click here. You can thank me later.

You Are The Moon by The Hush Sound

This song is very poetic and dreamy. It is short and clean and I love it very much. I can’t remember why I put this on my playlist but I’m glad I did. When I checked when was the video uploaded, it was way back 2007 so I guess this song is pretty much great discovery for me and it’s my pleasure to share it to you.

The Florist by Pekoe

Heard this song on one of my favorite filmmakers on Youtube, Emily Diana Ruth. She used this song in one of her videos wherein she was going around the Flower Market and that video is simply beautiful. Emily’s works are literally goals and I wish someday I could participate on her annual series, Letters To July. I am a big fan of hers as much as I am to this song. Check her channel here and let me know what you think of her works.

Run For Those Hills, Babe by Tom Rosenthal

This is also a discovery from a favorite filmmaker of mine on Youtube, Will Darbyshire. In one of his videos about NYC, he used this song as a background music and it totally captured the emotion of the piece and from that moment on I basically became a fan of Tom Rosenthal. No regrets. Tom also have a website and and Youtube channel so please do check him out because his works are to die for. Hello Tom, if you are reading this. :)

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas by Sam Smith

Is it too early for a Christmas song? Never. I put it on this playlist because I feel very nostalgic whenever I hear this song. It’s one of my favorite Christmas song alongside with White Christmas and Fairytale of New York (Few people may know this but this one is old but gold).  For the last few years that we are not with our parents, I hated the thought about Christmas. Thankfully, this year won’t be like any other Christmas anymore because we are back together as a family Hihi. Sam Smith, bless your voice. Listen to his version because it will hit you with the feels.

Drown by Marika Hackman

Thank you, Matty Healy, because if it’s not for you we won’t be able to discover how extraordinary Maricka Hackman is. Take a moment to appreciate this song and you will know what I’m talking about.

I’ll Try Anything At Once by The Strokes

I heard this song on Saab Magalona and Jim Bacarro’s wedding video and I searched it and fell in love immediately. This is such a good song on a rainy day with a cup of coffee or tea and a book on a side. Ahh. So good.

For No One by Handmouth

Trust me when I say that their front man is just on his 20’s, 25 to be exact, because *damn* his voice clearly doesn’t sounds like it’s from a man at his 20’s. I can’t remember how I ended up listening to them but I just discovered that they just recently released their album last March 2015 and they even played on several festivals such as Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and SXSW! Congrats! This song has a Nirvana slash Bob Dylan vibes and I like it so much. Looking forward on hearing them live. Check out also this video of one of their live performances to prove how wonderful they truly are.

Edit: I just saw their tour dates and they have a show here in DC on the 27th of September! OMG! I NEED TO SEE THEM LIVE! AMEN!

Ruth by Michael Cera

I have no words to describe Michael Cera because he is one of my favorite person ever and to discover that he actually released an album entitled ‘True That’ made me so happy. I fell in love with Cera on the film, Juno, and from then on I started watching more of his movies and I am totally loving it especially his character on Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist. This song on the other hand is sad and so mellow and has a country vibe to it which is perfect on rainy days. You can buy his full album on Bandcamp which is basically a website for independent artists to put on their own songs and you just have to donate for you to have a copy of their work. Minimum amount is $7 but you can donate more! I know Michael Cera is cool but this made him much cooler, right?

Share your feel good rainy day songs on the comment section below and I will check them out. Let me know also if you liked this because I would love to post another playlist next week and I already have an idea which songs are going to be on it. Excited!

See ya! x
